December 17, 2016

The Number UK Ltd which operates the 118 118 directory enquiries service, has announced its takeover of Texperts, the Cambridge-based text information business.

118 118 has recently been expanded into a full information service, and the addition of Texperts will provide expertise in mobile text services, answering consumer demand for the quick and easy delivery of information via text message.

118 118’s UK CEO, Gerry Murphy, said, “I am delighted the Texperts team is joining forces with our own. We have a mutual vision for the future value of text services for information and entertainment. Now, with the power of the 118 118 brand, I expect our shared resources will power faster growth and consumer benefits.”

“Texperts CEO and co-founder, Sarah McVittie, said, “Together with 118 118 we can both focus on developing the strongest possible service for consumers, extending the appeal of mobile text as a major tool for the delivery of instant answers.”
